Exciting news folks!  We’re planning a month of celebrations here at The Beacon Community Centre and we’d love your help to make this happen.

We’ve got three great reasons to celebrate at Exeter’s dynamic community centre based in Beacon Heath. The Exeter Foodbank has just agreed to establish a weekly food bank distribution session here and it’s opening on our first birthday – Friday 6 May. Plus, we’ve got a fab new logo which means we can finally get rid of the awful banner at the door entrance and put up a proper sign.

So here’s where you come in lovely, Exeter Daily readers – we know you’re go for it people, who make things happen, so can your business please help with any of the following?

  • Graphic design to create eye catching promotional materials – we’ve worked our socks off to get this centre up and running, now we need to tell people what happens here. Signage – at the front of the building Foodbank volunteers will be running food distribution sessions at The Beacon on Friday mornings for people referred with a Foodbank voucher.
  • Nearly 20 per cent of their clients come from Beacon Heath. We’re also hoping other agencies will also rock up on a Friday morning creating a one-stop shop giving specialist advice to people in crisis. Our volunteers will be running a pop up café – do you know anyone who could lead this or be part of the team? We’d love to be able to offer free coffee and cake during the four Friday mornings during May to celebrate our first birthday – can you please provide cakes or cash to buy them?
  • We’d also love to celebrate with the groups who meet here every week – we want to encourage them to feel part of our Beacon family. It would be great if we could give a Happy Birthday cake to them all! The toddler group, senior groups, St James School, the children’s centre, youth clubs, Devon Refugee Support, One to One Mentors, Isca Church, Sports Yoga - wait for it – we’d need nine birthday cakes! It’s a bit mad but we’re no ordinary community centre, we’ve got a great work ethic and passion by the bucket load to bring people together, just no cash.
  • We’d love to make the centre look especially welcoming and celebratory with floral displays, balloons and printing pictures of a year in the life of The Beacon – can you please help with any of this?

That’s it folks we’re all out of steam!

If you can help with any of the above, we’d be so grateful, please contact us here on 01392 204979 or email:thebeaconcentre.org@gmail.com
