Costa Tiverton to host book-signing
Regular visitors to Costa Coffee in Tiverton will be familiar with seeing best-selling romance novelist, Jenny Kane with coffee cup in hand, tapping away on her laptop writing her latest novel in her very own dedicated corner of the town’s favourite coffee shop.
On Monday 23rd November, 6pm-9pm, the successful author of such books as Another Cup of Coffee (Kindle best seller and dedicated to Costa Tiverton) and Abi’s House (which reached no.1 in the Amazon Romance, Contemporary Fiction, and Women’s Fiction charts) will be doing a live book signing, selling copies of her books and talking about the inspiration behind her novels – which unsurprisingly involves coffee!
As well as the book signing, local band M-theory will be playing live from 8pm, getting everyone in the mood for coffee and Christmas, alongside Costa’s trained baristas who will be making and serving the nation’s favourite coffee.
Costa Tiverton’s store manager, Claire Wright says: “Jenny Kane has been our resident novelist since the day we opened, some 3.5 years ago. She even has her own corner of the coffee shop, marked with an official plaque. We’re delighted she has agreed to do this book signing in the run up to Christmas and we look forward to welcoming customers, old and new on the night.”
Author Jenny Kane adds: “Costa Tiverton is like my second home, I spend so much of my time there, writing my novels and sipping small black Americanos all day long. All the staff at Costa know me well and I even help out clearing tables during busy periods. The book signing gives me an opportunity to tear myself away from my laptop (although possibly not the coffee) and chat to the people of Tiverton about my work.”
10% of all proceeds from any books sold during the evening will be donated to the Costa Foundation (www.costafoundation.com), an independent charity that aims to relieve poverty in coffee-growing communities. Its mission is to improve the life chances of boys and girls by providing them with the opportunity for a quality education.
Costa already has strong connections with literature. The Costa Book Awards (www.costa.co.uk/costa-book-awards) is one of the UK's most prestigious and popular literary prizes and recognises some of the most enjoyable books of the year, written by authors based in the UK and Ireland. Since their launch in 1971, the awards have rewarded a wide range of excellent books and authors across all genres.
