Could you give Daisy a home?

An unusual dog who has been repeatedly overlooked at an animal rescue centre is hoping to find her paw-fect forever home.

Daisy has been cared for by the team at RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter in Exeter after her previous owner gave her away after finding herself unable to cope with two dogs who had been brought over from America.

Daisy, who is an American Black and Tan Coonhound, has been waiting for almost six months with little interest from those looking to adopt a dog from the charity.

She is now desperate to find a loving forever home with an owner who has the time and energy to offer Daisy the life she deserves.

Jo Evans, shelter manager at RSPCA Little Valley, said: “We believe there is someone out there for her but sadly they haven’t found each other yet.

“Daisy is a beautiful two-year-old Coonhound who is looking for a home with someone who really enjoys outdoor activities, as she needs a lot of exercise to help give her the mental stimulation she needs.

“She can initially be a little unsure of new people so is looking for experienced owners who will be understanding and help her gain some confidence with this.

“Daisy is an extremely clever girl who picks up training quickly and will do anything for treats. She is really in tune with a clicker, which will make training fun for everyone and she would love to continue this with her new owners.

“She is looking for a spacious home with someone who is used to excitable big dogs. Daisy is a big puppy at heart and will make a fantastic companion in the right home environment. As she is a big bouncy girl, Daisy would suit a home where any children are older teenagers and where she can be the only pet.

“She can be unsure around other dogs initially but once she’s introduced she’s happy to make friends. Daisy would love nothing more than to be in a home where she can enjoy some home comforts and some great outdoor fun with her new owners.”

A rarity in Britain, Coonhounds are a type of scent hound and a descendant of the English foxhound.

RSPCA Little Valley is encouraging anyone who thinks they have the time and space for Daisy to come and meet her.

If you think you could offer Daisy a home, please visit her profile online or call RSPCA Little Valley on 07748 629202 to speak to one of the dog team during the centre’s opening hours.

RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter is owned and run by the South, East & West Devon Branch – a separately registered branch of the RSPCA responsible for raising all funds locally.

The centre opened its doors to unwanted, abused and neglected back in 1991 and helps to support the work of RSPCA inspectors by caring for and rehoming 1000s of the neediest animals from the local area every year.
