Doors open - come and see!

Yes – we’re ready to open our doors!

Exeter’s newest community centre, The Beacon, is holding its first public event this Saturday 5 December – a Christmas fair.

Come along  between 1pm and 3pm and see all the months of hard work that the Beacon Vollies (you’d call them volunteers) have put in. They have sorted, cleaned, painted and even put up a new ceiling at The Beacon, which was formerly the Knight Club in Beacon Lane.

They have created a warm, light welcoming space to hold community events, private functions, meetings and already a number of local organsiatons have started using the centre.
Over the weekend the Vollies were in action, putting up a 9ft Christmas tree and some lights to give a festive air to the fair!

Local councillor Emma Morse has been baking and will be running a cake stall, there is a Traid Craft stall, the Refugee Support Group which uses the Beacon centre has a stall.

Other local people will be selling Christmas cards, decorations, pottery, gifts, cakes, rag wreaths, handmade handbags, jewellery, handmade soaps, photos, plus a few tables of baby and children’s clothes and toys.  

It’s free to come along and there is no charge to see Santa.

There will be coffee, teas, mince pies, cake and the Hospiscare Choir will be singing carols. Santa will be visiting the Beacon Nursery which is next door.

Everybody is welcome, please come and take a look around this fabulous new centre and find out what happens here every week, there’s lots going on!  We’d love more people to join us.
