With less than a month to go to this year’s Flaming Tar Barrels spectacular, Otter Nurseries is reminding revellers to be prepared when it comes to parking on the night.

As usual, the garden centre is opening its car park for visitors to the event in Ottery St Mary on Saturday, November 5.

Every penny raised at the Otter Nurseries car park goes into a pot that is split between the Ottery Carnival Committee, which organises the event, and Otter Nurseries Charity of the Year. This year the garden centre is supporting the Baton. In 2015, parking funds raised £2715 for the carnival committee, and £750 for Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF).

The cost of parking this year remains at £10 per car and £150 for 50+ coaches, £75 for 26 seaters and £40 for minibuses.

Otter Nurseries MD, Jacqui Taylor said: “As the event is on a Saturday this year, we’re sure there will be a surge in demand for parking.

“We would advise car drivers to arrive as early as they can, and any coach companies to book a parking space well in advance.”

Spaces can be booked by contacting Robin Wickham at robinwickham@btinternet.com.

Jacqui added: “The car park is manned by our staff, who give up their time voluntarily to steward the parking and direct visitors to the event.

“We’re pleased to support the Tar Barrels and help raise funds at the same time; this is always a great event for the town.”

The carnival committee strongly recommends that all visitors to Tar Barrels look at their website to ensure they know exactly what it is that they are coming to. www.otterytarbarrels.co.uk
