Exeter Cathedral now appearing on Google Streetview

Exeter Cathedral has recently had a Google Streetview tour produced by local photographer Peter Stephens, enabling viewers to walk through the doors and move around the Nave via a number of different images. You can then walk through the Quire, the Lady Chapel and into the Chapter House. You can also have a look in the Cathedral shop. The whole tour is made up from 30 panoramic photographs. Search for Exeter Cathedral on Google and follow the link to the Streetview tour. The tour joins the existing Streetview footage along Bear Street, Palace Gate and South Street.

The Streetview tour was produced by Exeter based photographer Peter Stephens who has recently become one of Google's Trusted Photographers.

Google Business Photos uses Streetview virtual tour technology along with traditional still photography to showcase businesses on Google Maps allowing people who search online to walk through, explore and take a closer look businesses. Not only will these images appear on Google searches, Google Maps and Google+ Local, but Street View can easily be embedded into the business own website, social media pages and more.

Peter has produced tours of a number of businesses in the area already, including Exeter Cathedral, the Oddfellows Bar, Devon Air Ambulance Shops and Snappy Snaps.

Peter has been producing virtual tour photography since 2005 and says that he has seen a huge improvement in the technology over the last few years. “When I first saw that Google were taking Streetview into businesses I was a little worried about how it might affect my existing services, but now I have the privilege of producing these tours myself I can see it being a valuable part of my business. Also it opens up the use of this technology to smaller business who may not have previously considered virtual tours due to the cost. I am really excited to be providing this service and looking forward to working with local businesses.”
