Exeter housebuilder helps foodbank towards a brighter Christmas
An Exeter housebuilder has launched a drop-off point to support a local food bank this Christmas.
Redrow South West, which is currently building new homes at St Michael’s Meadow on Chudleigh Road, is supporting Exeter District Foodbank and encouraging the local community to donate their extra, unused or unwanted non-perishable food items.
As part of its commitment to create thriving communities, Redrow South West has launched a number of initiatives to support local people living in and around its developments. This includes an annual community fund, where groups can apply for funding for their projects.
Exeter District Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of food banks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
The foodbank is appealing for donations of all kinds of edible items – especially tins of meat, tins of vegetables, tins of fruit, noodle and pasta snacks, jams and spreads, small jars of coffee, rice pudding, and tins of fish. The drop-off point will be live at the development from the 1 December to the 20 December.
Sian Smith, Sales Director at Redrow South West, said: “As members of the Exeter community, we are keen to support local people, especially during this difficult time where food banks have seen a huge surge in demand for food parcels.
“Many people have faced significant hardship over the last year, due to ill-health, redundancy, or changes in their personal lives, which means they need to seek support.
“We are delighted to support Exeter District Foodbank, who continue to provide a vital service for the people in the local community. We’d like to encourage those who are able to reach out to the local food bank and see if they can help, in any way they can.”
Redrow South West currently has 14 developments across the region. In Devon, Redrow is building high-quality, new homes at its St Michaels Meadow, Saxon Brook, Blundell’s Grange and Romansfield developments – all offering excellent transport links while being perfectly placed for a slice of country life too.
