Exeter kids’ charity shop plans fun packed day for grand reopening!

Jelly, a charity shop in Exeter selling low-cost, preloved children’s clothes, toys and books, is currently undergoing a four-week refurbishment.

The shop, which first opened its doors in 2015, will celebrate its grand reopening on 19 August.  Plans for the fun packed day include: selfies with a real Jelly Teddy, cupcakes, goodie bags for the first 50 customers and a giant raffle with prizes ranging from craft kits to a children’s bike.

Part of local charity, Exeter Community Initiatives, Jelly is located in Fore Street and is run by paid staff and a team of volunteers.

Over the years, Jelly has amassed a loyal customer base in Exeter and beyond as the go-to shop for friendly customer service and pre-loved, low-cost clothes, which is more important now than ever, with the cost-of-living crisis impacting local families.

The shop also offers volunteering opportunities to people, many of whom are looking to build confidence and gain valuable retail skills to help get back into employment.

ECI Operations Manager, Ellie Taylor, said: “It’s going to be a fantastic day!  Jelly’s getting a much-needed makeover to make it a bright, welcoming and cheerful environment for our customers - big and small. I’m looking forward to welcoming customers back to the shop, as well as our funders and charity partners.  My thanks goes out to staff, volunteers and the many local businesses who have given their time, money or resources to make this refurbishment happen.”
