Exeter law firm announces growth to leadership team

Exeter law firm Cartridges Law is delighted to announce the progression of several of its staff to new roles, as part of the firm’s planning for growth and change.

Victoria Matthews and Julie Farmer have joined the executive leadership team and are now equity partners in Cartridges Law. Victoria has been with the film as a litigation lawyer since 2007 and Julie as finance manager since 2001.

Managing partner Nicky Mein says: “Leadership is key to any business. Successful leadership will help us to maintain our reputation as well as to meet challenge, so I’m thrilled to be joined by Julie and Victoria as equity partners.

“As finance manager, Julie has been integral to the growth of the firm and her valuable input prompted us to look at how we might promote staff who were not lawyers, where merit demanded it. We’ve changed our legal structure to allow this.

‘We intend to become a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) by April next year, which will further support flexible management and ownership of the firm.’

Other members of the firm’s senior management team have also been promoted to partners, as part of the restructuring: Faye Newbery (Landlord and tenant, housing); Cyndy Walker (residential conveyancing); and Karyna Squibb (private client), while Anita Laws (divorce and finance) becomes a senior associate. Joe Norman, Hannah Quick and Heidi Davey are now associates.

Penny Scott no longer has day-to-day responsibility for the firm but remains a partner, with a brief to help support and embed the new leadership.
