Exeter MP Ben Bradshaw visits local mental health crisis service
Exeter MP Ben Bradshaw joins staff at The Moorings, a local service providing help to anyone struggling with their mental health.
The service, which is delivered by Mental Health Matters, provides free mental health support to anyone aged 18 and over and helped over 5,000 visitors last year across three sites in Exeter, Barnstaple, and Torquay.
The Moorings is staffed by a team of highly skilled Recovery Workers who provide emotional support, advice, guidance, and information to help individuals with their mental health. The service doesn’t require referral or an appointment, allowing people to access support via phone, video call, or by simply dropping in.
Ben Bradshaw, MP for Exeter, said: "I'm delighted to visit The Moorings in Exeter today. It's very comforting and reassuring to know that there is a service like this available to people, open access and on demand. Given the growing and record level of mental health demand in the community, it's an absolute lifeline to people in Exeter and the rest of Devon."
Sam Hay, Head of Social Care of Mental Health Matters, added: "The Moorings offer a safe space for anyone feeling distressed, anxious, or overwhelmed and we encourage anyone who is struggling to pop in and talk to us."
The service is commissioned by Devon NHS Partnership Trust.
