Former Exeter College student makes it into Radio Academy's prestigious 30 under 30

Twenty-two-year old Ashley Jeary from Pinhoe, Exeter has made it in the Radio Academy’s prestigious 30 under 30.

Ashley, who presents Live and Local on weekday evenings and the Afternoon show on Saturdays on 107.3FM Radio Exe, was one of thousands in the running this year and is the only winner from a radio station that is not part of a larger network.

30 under 30 is the Radio Academy’s national “one to watch” programme putting the spotlight on young and talented upcoming professionals from the industry.

Ashley said "I couldn't believe what I was hearing when I was told in a station meeting. They said they were letting me go. It was only a bit later they said to the Radio Festival."

Ashley will now travel to the Radio Festival in Salford Quays, Manchester on Monday where he will join the other 29 successful candidates. Here he will have unprecedented access to senior figures from within the business at an exclusive reception.

Every one of the 30 has shown expertise, energy, dedication, innovation, sheer brilliance, creativity and above all extraordinary achievement in this wonderful medium.

“The class of 2013 is nothing short of stunning and I am looking forward to engaging with every one of them at the Radio Festival, which is dedicated to supporting new talent and this year offers unique networking opportunities and access to radio’s most influential people.”
