Guinness World Record for the Largest Cream Tea Party is smashed right here in Exeter!
The BIG Cake Show, joined by charity partner Sparks, Glenn Cosby, Peter Gorton and over 450 cream tea lovers from across the South West, smashed the current cream tea party record.
Organised by The BIG Cake Show, Devonians came together to break the world record for the largest cream tea party by consuming one scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and a cup of English Breakfast tea. As well as the cream tea, revellers were able to watch a scone making demonstration from Chef Richard Hunt and Great British Bake Off contestant Glenn Cosby, along with viewing an array of beautiful classic vehicles and playing with vintage games.
The event was held in the county’s capital city, Exeter. Supported by South West companies such as The Devon Scone Company, Langage Farm, Posh- Nosh and Westpoint Arena. The brainchild of busy mums, Mel Edwards and Kim Vernon of The BIG Cake Show, the fundraising event was put together to raise money and spread the message about the amazing work that their charity partner, Sparks, provide throughout the country.
Mel Edwards commented “Kim and I are extremely excited to of broken the record, at the same time as raising both awareness and much needed funds for Sparks. We couldn’t have done it without the amazing help from our sponsors and the public who turned up is their masses, we would like to give a heartfelt thank you all involved. A fun day was had by all”
