Hele Rd closed overnight as wall collapses in St Davids

Police and Fire officers attended the scene of a large wall that collapsed in St Davids, Exeter. A 30-foot section of a wall 20-30 feet high came down onto the pavement and road at around 8pm yesterday evening (Thursday 22nd November).

The Fire Brigade made a thorough check with thermal imaging cameras before ascertaining that nobody had been caught under the rubble. Due to concerns that further sections of the wall may collapse officers offered alternative accommodation to approximately 40 elderly and vulnerable residents from 36 flats. The road remains closed at Iron Bridge, Hele Road and Cowley Road.
