Princesshay was packed with people on Thursday night for the big Christmas lights switch on.

Musical Performances by the University of Exeter’s Jazz Orchestra, the South West Music Academy and the Lympstone Military Wives choir counted down to the main event.

Rob Baxter head coach of the Exeter Chiefs and Paul Tisdale, manager of Exeter City Football Club were joined on stage by Exeter City players John O’Flynn and Sam Parkin and the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Rachel Lyons, to officially turn on the lights.

The switch-on also marked the official opening of the Christmas market on the Cathedral Green which hundreds turn-out to browse the stalls.

The market’s bespoke stalls had something for everyone, with food, fashion and everything in between.

A Choir from Exeter Cathedral also performed in the market drawing in crowds of shoppers to stop and listen.

Also drawing crowds were a team from Exeter Segway who dressed as an American policeman, invaded shops and tailed shoppers all while riding a Segway.
