Little Levi remembers Nanna Ruth
Little Levi Brailey is ready for action! Big sister Bo helps put on his camouflage while mum Amber teaches him to salute.
He was preparing for a special event for a very special woman in his life - his beloved Nanna Ruth Regan.
Levi, 3, was spending the evening with his family, dad James, big brother Solo and granddad Kevin Regan practising donning their camo in preparation for Hospiscare’s Men’s Walk on Saturday March 12.
Already more than 400 men have signed up.
Kevin has rallied his family and friends to join him on the walk for this local city charity. After Ruth, his wife of 47 years, died last August Kevin started inviting his friends around to their Pinhoe home to watch the TV series Band of Brothers.
This became a regular event and now a group of 10 family and friends have formed Kevin’s Band of Brothers walking in memory of Ruth who was a Hospiscare patient. The team will be wearing camouflage and sunflowers.
“We will be walking in memory of Ruth’s beautiful life, her infectious laugh, her enquiring mind and her love for all which is her legacy to our family,” said Kevin.
After initially recovering from breast cancer Ruth took part in a variety of sponsored races, including power walking with Kevin in the New York Marathon. “Well, now it's our turn to walk for Ruth,” said Kevin. “Our Band of Brothers will be carrying flowers as she was a very keen gardener and the flowers she so loved represent the joy she found in all things as she bought colour to all she met.
“Ruth and I were totally surprised at how much help we got from Hospiscare they were truly remarkable in every way. We thought there were only for the end of life, but without their help we would have really struggled throughout her secondary illness.”
