Local businesses support sleep-out fundraiser
Several businesses are supporting Exeter YMCA’s biggest fundraising event, Sleep Easy 2014, by donating prizes.
Sleep Easy involves members of the public spending a night under the stars to raise awareness and funds for Exeter YMCA’s work of supporting homeless young people.
Last year over 180 people took part, raising over £30,000, and Exeter YMCA hope Sleep Easy 2014 will outdo last year’s success.
To spur the participants on in their fundraising, prizes have been donated for the top fundraisers.
Amongst the prizes available are a £60 voucher at Go Ape, a gift voucher for Boston Tea Party, a consultation, cut and blow dry at Jeff Goodwin Hair, and a goodie bag Good Golly Miss Molly.
Exeter YMCA chief executive Peter Stephenson said: “The support we’ve received from these local businesses means so much to us. Sleep Easy truly is a community effort and these prizes are going to help us raise even more and ensure more young homeless people see a brighter future.”
Each year Exeter YMCA houses over 70 homeless young people and, through one-to-one support, equips the residents to live independent lives.
