Lucky Exeter residents celebrate Postcode Lottery win
A MYSTERY lottery winner in Exeter, Devon, has won the lion’s share of £1 million – and hundreds of their neighbours have also bagged a prize.
The first bumper People’s Postcode Lottery prize of 2025 has landed in an Exeter postcode with one person taking home a whopping £418,019.
And the remainder of the £1m prize - more than half-a-million pounds - has been shared between 667 people in the wider postcode area.
The biggest winner, who has remained anonymous, bagged the huge windfall after their postcode, EX2 8TE, scooped the lottery’s Millionaire Street prize on Saturday 4 January.
More than 660 players in EX2 8 landed prizes ranging from £793 to £2,379, depending on how many tickets they play with.
The players' windfalls mean local charities have also benefited from a cash boost in the area.
Several charities are set to be awarded significant funding from Postcode Community Trust in the coming days.
Exeter is the first of five Millionaire Street winning locations to be announced in January. Local charities in each of the five areas will share a combined total of £1 million to support their work.
Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson passed on his congratulations to the winners. He said: “What a spectacular start to 2025 for one of our winners in Exeter!
“And it’s absolutely amazing that so many people are winning together, and even better yet, charities in the local area will benefit too.”
