WildWise an organisation in Devon specialised in offering nature connection events and courses, is launching a new mentoring program for teenage girls, called WildTime.

Run by a team of experienced and qualified outdoors women, this exciting and unique program aims to offer young women an adventurous and enriching experience during this transitional time of their lives.

The girls will safely experience the physical challenges of the outdoors from canoeing, wild walking and bushcraft to natural horsemanship, environmental arts plus much more, whilst deepening their sense of self, building confidence, and helping them recognize their strengths and talents.

“WildTime came about as a result of a lot of reflection and discussion about what it is to be a teenage girl in the UK today. This time of transition is often so rushed, pressured by school and expectation. Yet in many cultures around the world this time is marked and honoured with celebration and adventure. We want to offer such an experience.” says Israh Goodall, one of the leaders of the program.

The program takes place over 5 dates throughout the year (14 days in total), in beautiful wild locations in Devon, including the forest, moor and river, starting with the first camp on 7-9 April.

The organisers have launched a crowd funding appeal for a bursary fund to make the program affordable for those on low incomes, thank you ‘perks’ for donating include a glamping holiday stay in a yurt, discounts on WildWise courses and more. www.indiegogo.com/projects/wildtime-nature-based-programme-for-teenage-g...

There will be a free taster session for girls and their parents to learn about the program on Sun, 22nd Feb, 10.30-12.30 near Totnes, South Devon.

It is an opportunity to meet the leaders, get an outline of the program and have some fun too! To book for this, please email marenfreeland@gmail.com or phone 07906 399990.

Outdoor education and adventure has increasingly well documented benefits for young people. WildWise also offers an equivalent program for boys – the Wolf Pack, as well as many other interesting courses and events.
