Exeter Community Arts Project is searching for 120 people aged from 11 to 99 to make and perform The Day We Played Brazil, the new musical play which is set to be the biggest cultural event in Exeter for many years.

Central to the story are the 1914 Exeter City football team so we are calling all young men out there who’d like to have a go at singing and dancing to come along and get involved.

To complete the cast, there are performing roles for men and women, boys and girls aged over 11 to play the host of characters involved in telling this epic tale of Exeter, football and the 100 years since the Great War.

To find our 120 performers a series of Workshop-Auditions will be held in February 2014, which will involve singing, dancing and acting as part of a large group.

The Workshop-Auditions are open to people for whom this will be their first ever experience of taking part in a show as well as those who have been on the stage before. There will be something for everyone who takes part in this production from smaller roles to larger roles, from solo singers to chorus.

No stage experience is necessary to take part, nor do participants have to be football fanatics; all you need is enthusiasm.  This is a great chance to work alongside a highly experienced creative team to present the play in the Exeter Northcott Theatre in July 2015.

PolIy Agg-Manning, one of the shows’ Directors, said: “I can't tell you how excited I am that we are producing this brilliant production at Exeter Northcott Theatre and I am looking forward to being on the directing team with Nick Stimson and David Lockwood. You don't have to be Lionel Messi or Wayne Rooney to audition-just a love of theatre or the beautiful game. Community productions have always been so incredible on the Exeter Northcott stage and now is your chance to tread the boards of the theatre with football boots on!”

The Day we Played Brazil will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the football match between Exeter City and the Brazil national team - the first-ever game played by Brazil.

The production itself will open immediately after the 2014 World Cup, which is being held in Brazil, and will run for two weeks at Exeter Northcott Theatre.
