Sea of Santas takes over city centre

From toddlers to grandparents, hundreds of runners, some fantastic festive pooches and even Exeter City first team player Jay Stansfield and assistant manager Kevin Nicholson, braved the cold to take part in this weekend’s Exeter Santa run.

Organised by Exeter City Community Trust, the partner charity of Exeter City Football Club, the seasonal spectacular sees a sea of Santas take over the High Street.

Jamie Vittles, chief executive of Exeter City Community Trust, said the event had been a great success. He added: “It was brilliant to see hundreds of Santas dashing down the High Street, thanks to everyone who took part and made it such an amazing community event.

“We’re very grateful to all our volunteer marshals who help us to stage the event, and, of course, our sponsors, Tozers Law, Exeter Live Better, Stagecoach, HSBC and Radio Exe.”

Participants chose between a 2.5k family fun run or a 5k distance. They could take part for fun, or raise money for charity, including Exeter City Community Trust, with donations helping to support the charity’s work in the community.

Exeter City Community Trust organises running events throughout the year, starting with a half marathon in February, the Granite Way in March, its flagship Exeter Live Better Marathon in May and the 10k River Run in June. To find out more visit https://exetercct.org/running-events-2022/
