Seaton will be kick starting its Christmas celebrations on Saturday 1st December with the return of its Christmas Carnival, light switch on and festive markets. The day will start with the Seaton Eats Boutique and Seaton Artisan Market both taking place at Windsor Gardens.  To continue the celebrations into the evening, Seaton will host its annual light switch on, Christmas Carnival and late-night shopping bringing residents a full day of Christmas fun.

Seaton Eats Boutique will be at Windsor Gardens next to the Christmas tree from noon to 8pm. For those looking to get into the Christmas spirit, there will be some favourite food vendors alongside the bar, which will be stocked with Gluhwein, mulled cider, festive punch and hot chocolate!

From 4pm till 8pm the Artisan Market will be back at Windsor Gardens.  Featuring traders from Devon, Dorset and Somerset, the market highlights the best arts, crafts, businesses and unique products in the area.  Entry is free and is the perfect opportunity to start your Christmas shopping.

The most anticipated part of the day is the Christmas light switch on followed by the enchanting Christmas Carnival. This year the lights will be turned on by the winner from Seaton Town Council’s Independent Seaton competition and a member of the Carnival Royal Party.  Seaton’s residents can watch the Christmas lights being switched on at the Town Square at 5.50pm and for those that are keen to carry on shopping, many of the independent retailers will be staying open late.

To top off the festivities, at 6pm the impressive floats from the Christmas Carnival will begin gliding through the streets of Seaton leaving a trail of Christmas spirit.   The carnival will commence from Harbour Road, travel up the Underfleet, down through Fore Street and then on to the Esplanade.  This year’s line-up will be led by the Fire Brigade, Seaton Majorettes and the royal float featuring a prince and two princesses.   Last but not least, Father Christmas will be at the end of the parade and will be stopping in the square to greet children.

This year festive shoppers in Seaton will have the chance to get their hands on a Christmas Shopper Loyalty Card.   Shoppers will be receive a stamp from participating Seaton traders when they spend a minimum of £5.  Once the loyalty card is full with a minimum of five different traders’ stamps and posted in one of the boxes found at retailers, customers will then be entered into a draw to win a fabulously festive hamper full of gifts from each participating trader.

A Seaton Town Council spokesperson said: “Seaton is a great town which prides itself on bringing the community together and the markets do just this.  Our independent shops are perfect for Christmas shopping as they create more of a festive spirit and provide a premium level of service that you wouldn’t necessarily find elsewhere.  This combined with our light switch on and carnival is a way that the town can celebrate the start of the Christmas season together”.
