Spooky late-night opening at Knightshayes

Spook yourself silly this Hallowe’en at Knightshayes, on the outskirts of Tiverton, as the National Trust property goes all out with it’s All Hallows Eve celebrations and late night opening on Friday 31 October.

The late night opening is a first for the team at Knightshayes, as they look at new ways to help people explore the property and see it in a different light. There will be a spooky trail around the house and activities to help keep the kids occupied.

The gothic mansion lends itself well to the theme, as House Manager Sara Currant explained: “When I first moved to Knightshayes I lived on-site and the first question people always asked me was ‘Is it scary?’. The house is full of nooks and crannies, and is prone to making odd noises in the twilight hours, so it can be a little bit spooky at times.

“In actual fact, we don’t believe the house is haunted – it has had a happy history with no mysterious deaths or heart-broken lovers as far as we know – but it will lend itself well to a bit of out of hours exploring for those with nerves of steel.”

Both the house and the stables, including the café and the shop will be open until 8pm for this event, so there will be the chance to do a spot of late night shopping, and pick up some dinner with family-sharing dishes available.

The Hallowe’en late night opening is part of the properties half-term family fun activities. There will be the usual trail in the gardens during the day, as well as craft activities from 1pm to 4pm every-day from 25 October to the 2 November.
