Four out of the six new YMCA Exeter Ten:10 Interns have signed up for the charities Great West Run team in the first week of them being in the city.

All four boys, who are not only giving a year of their lives to serve the charity through their time and effort, are also running the 13.1 mile route to help combat youth homelessness.

With less than a month to go now until race day, the boys have set themselves a high challenge, especially those ones who have no prior experience of long distance running! However, speaking on behalf of the group, Jack Baker believes that, ‘the run is both is excellent opportunity for us to get to know the city in a unique way as well as to raise awareness of the YMCA and the work the charity does to transform young lives’.

The boys, who have come as far as Germany, have enrolled on to Ten:10, YMCA Exeter’s Internship programme. The aim of the programme is to provide individuals the opportunity to serve and love the city of Exeter and surrounding towns and villages through practical, hands-on Christian social action. Areas of work they will be involved with will include Job Clubs, youth groups and the housing projects.

The Interns have shown it is still not too late to register on behalf of the YMCA, so if you would like information on how to do so please visit http://ymcaexeter.org.uk/event/great-west-run-2014 or alternatively ring 01392 410530 and ask for Bethan.
Deadline for entry is Friday 3rd October.
