Chiefs stars launch Cookie Club Cookbook
The Cookie Club Cookbook lifts the lid on one of the most prestigious and exclusive baking clubs in world rugby and its proceeds will raise funds, as well as scrumptious bakes, for local charities the Exeter Chiefs Foundation and Devon Air Ambulance.
The group, open to Exeter rugby players by invitation only, meets regularly through the season to test out favourite treats and perfect their culinary craft. Players take it in turns to prepare cakes and bakes to surprise and delight fellow Cookie Club members.
The book has been exclusively published during the Testimonial Year of Welsh rugby star and premiership player with Exeter Chiefs, Phil Dolman – the year being a long standing tradition in the sport that recognises outstanding service to the game.
It features recipes from Exeter favourites and international rugby stars, including Thomas Waldrom, Geoff Parling, Dave Ewers, Tomas Francis, Moray Low, Matt Kvesic, Don Armand, Gareth Steenson, Phil Dollman, Ollie Devoto, Luke Cowan-Dickie and Ben Moon, and offers a unique opportunity to sample the flavours of the Cookie Club at home.
In a further twist, the book includes a guest recipe by Jack Nowell, Chiefs’ wiley winger and Exeter’s first ever British Lion, representing the Cookie Club rival group, the Sandwich Club.
All the recipes in the book have been tried, tested and edited by baking guru Mad Cakes of Exeter ensuring this is not only a fantastic initiative to raise funds for the testimonial year, but a practical cookbook too.
There is still time to get your tickets for the Cookie Club book launch event on Wednesday (28 November) in Exeter.
The Great Exeter Bake Off' competition will take place during the book launch when players from Exeter City Football club will battle it out against players from Exeter Chiefs in a quest to become the city's best bakers.
The event kicks off at 7pm at the Room Works in Marsh Barton.
Tickets are priced at £30 per person or £50 per couple and include a signed copy of the new Cookie Club recipe book.

About Phil Dollman
Phil began his Exeter rugby career ten years ago having moved to the South West from his early playing career in Wales. He has been an ever present figure in the tremendous recent success of rugby in Exeter.
