The Friday Fandango with Adam Sweet & Jess McAllister

Adam Sweet is an exceptionally talented young guitarist and singer from the South West. His high energy solo shows of quality original music and interpretations of rock and blues classics never fails to impress. Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service Open Day
Saturday, 10am, Service Headquarters, The Knowle, Clyst St George, Exeter EX3 0NW
This event will provide members of the public with the opportunity to learn about fire and road safety, including demonstrations from Station 60 Special Operations, the police and ambulance service. There will be family friendly activities such as The Fire Emporium, bouncy castle and ball pool, face painting, stalls and games to name just a few. All welcome, 10am-4pm.  Proceeds will go towards the Fire Fighters Charity and Hospicecare Exmouth and Lympstone.

Hay House Summer Fete

The annual summer fete this year is on 6 September. It will be opened by X Factor contestant Shelley Smith.  Table top sales, bbq, face painting, bouncy castle, raffle and much more more.

Toy and Train Collectors Fair

Turner Locker Barnfield Revival

The idea is to gather around 50 vehicles (cars & bikes) from the 1930’s to the 1960’s, and in an unashamed imitation of Goodwood Revival. Garden open day

The beautiful landscaped lawns and flower beds are well worth a visit. You’ll also find a conservatory, small parterre, pond garden, walled kitchen garden and lake. Included in the admission price, the small garden at Bickham Cottage will also be open to the public. No dogs except assistance dogs. Plants available for sale. Wheelchair access to at least the main features of the garden. Teas available at additional charge. Gardens open 2pm-5pm. War Memorial - the Story of a Devon Village's Sacrifice
Sunday, 6.30pm, Alumni Auditorium, Exeter University, Stocker Road, Exeter
As part of the WW1 Centenary programme, author and broadcaster Clive Aslet will give a talk based on his book, War Memorial, which tells the story of the effect of conflict on a small rural community and the thirteen Devon men who lost their lives in WW1.  Tickets are £25 and include the drinks reception. Urban Bees: Working Together
The Yard Gallery, Exeter College just off Queen Street
Bees are under threat like never before. Six members of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen have come together to respond in their own way to the current plight of bees. Inspired by the example of the rooftop beehives on Princesshay shopping centre in Exeter, they have made work in the fields of printmaking, photography, ceramics, textiles and jewellery. Exhibitors - Lynn Bailey - Printmaking, Philippa de Burlet - Ceramics, Helen Edwards - Textiles, Mei Lim - Photography, Debby Mason - Printmaking, Yume Martin - Jewellery. All artwork for sale. Free entry. Work will be on display until 27 September.

Materials Matter
Jubilee Gallery, Riverside Mill, Bovey Tracey
Materials Matter focuses on Members' relationship with their raw materials, and how it influences the work they produce. The exhibition celebrates this important relationship between maker and material. Free entry, open daily, the exhibition runs until Sunday. http://www.crafts.org.uk/

Exeter’s Fine Art
RAMM, Queen Street, Exeter
Commemorating the outbreak of the First World War with works by Walter Bayes and Muirhead Bone, RAMM’s portrait collection will also be represented by two naval heroes of the Napoleonic era with Devon connections - Admiral Edward Pellew and Captain Charles Proby. Pellew rose to become commander of the Mediterranean fleet and a national celebrity after the Bombardment of Algiers whilst Proby also gave outstanding service in the seven years war and the American war of independence. http://www.rammuseum.org.uk/
