New sleek black chilli powder pouches to spice up your kitchen

Are you always on the lookout for new, stylish foodie ranges to add spice to your kitchen store cupboard? If so, the country’s favourite chilli farm has the answer.

South Devon Chilli Farm has recently introduced a range of sleek black stand-up pouches of chilli powder to its range of high end, hot products. There are four chilli powders available: Chipotle, Ancho, Guajillo and the extremely hot Bhut Jolokia. These resealable black foil pouches (70g) all retail for £2.80 except for the mighty Bhut Jolokia chilli powder which retails at £7.35.

The Chipotle smoked chilli is widely used in Mexican cooking to add a smokey flavour and heat to stews, soups, table sauces and marinades. The Ancho is a medium-heat chilli with a very fruity flavour, which again is widely used in Mexican cooking. The Guajillo is a medium-heat chilli with a tangy flavour.

The Bhut Jolokia is a very, very hot chilli with a fruity, smokey flavour. It’s recommended to use this very sparingly and handle with care, washing hands after use. South Devon Chilli Farm suggests considering using their chilli handling kit with this one! The pouches are available nationwide in independent stores and delis. They are also being sold online at www.sdcf.co.uk and at the shop at South Devon Chilli Farm. Why not go along to the shop, stock up on goodies and stay for a coffee and chilli chocolate brownie in the café or treat yourself to a delicious lunch. There are lots of mouth-watering dishes to try; some hot, some not.

If you’re already thinking about Christmas, the farm shop has lots of gift ideas to tempt you, from South Devon Chilli Farm products to specialist goodies from independent producers. South Devon Chilli Farm has just been awarded a Bronze (one of only four medal winners) in the Speciality Retail category in the Western Morning News Food/Flavour awards.

This leading chilli farm was also recently awarded a Gold for their Honeycomb Chilli Chocolate in the Taste of the West Awards 2012. If you want extra proof of their incredible chilli credentials, food aficionado Nigel Barden (Simon Mayo’s drivetime slot on BBC Radio 2) recently named them as one of his two preferred chilli producers in the country. Olive magazine featured them as their ‘Top Producer’ in August and Susy Atkins has just featured South Devon Chilli Farm in her column in the Sunday Telegraph (Sunday 7th October) recommending wines to match with chilli dishes.
