Mo Bros from Simpkins Edwards Raise over £400 ... and counting!
A group of ‘Mo Bros’ from Exeter-based chartered accountancy firm Simpkins Edwards has so far raised over £400 by taking part in ‘Movember’ – and the total is set to rise when additional money raised from the staff Christmas party is added later this month.
Motivated by Partner Adrian Hemmings, who lost his father-in-law to prostate cancer 10 years ago, the Mo Bros included Jamie Brimblecombe, Jason Chant, Jon Dufty, Nick Feeney, Phill Hargreaves, Mark Simic, Jordan Mitchell, Antony Norman and Richard Holt who are all based at the Exeter office.
As is shown in the picture, some of the team couldn’t wait to rid themselves of their moustaches on 1 December and got their razors out straight away! Richard Holt, who shaved off his ‘mo’ for the first time in 40 years at the start of Movember, will now be shaving every day, as his wife has decided she prefers the clean shaven look!
“We’d like to say thank you to everyone who made a donation to Movember,” said Adrian Hemmings. “We have had to endure several wise cracks and general office mickey-taking over the past few weeks but it has been worth it to raise the money. We’re looking forward to adding to the total at our Christmas party and hope to be sending an even bigger cheque off to the charity in the new year.”
Movember is an annual international campaign which takes place each November, with the aim of raising vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer. In 2011 the UK campaign alone raised over £22 million for charities including Prostate Cancer UK and the Institute of Cancer Research, as well as other men’s health programmes.
