Families set to flock to Newton Abbot for popular Easter fixture
After a hugely successful season opener, Newton Abbot Racecourse is expecting bumper crowds at their second fixture of the season on Easter Saturday 4th April.
As one of the most popular fixtures of the season for families, the racecourse will again be welcoming the first 200 children through the gates with a free chocolate Easter egg to celebrate the extended weekend.
The racecourse will also continue with its commitment of making a day at the races affordable for all with its continued money-saving offer of free entry for children aged 16 and under, plus students with a valid photographic student ID or NUS card.
Patrick Masterson, Managing Director of Newton Abbot Racecourse, spoke about the Easter fixture: “We always look forward to our Easter fixture and this year we are again predicting an impressive crowd. It has always proved a popular fixture for families and friends. After an exhilarating season opener, we’re sure that those that join us at the weekend will witness some thrilling racing throughout the day.
“We’ve continued our free entry offer for children and students to encourage the younger generation to become interested in the world of horseracing. After all, they are the future in terms of spectators and future owners, jockeys or trainers.
“Once you’ve experienced a day at the races, it’s hard to find something to live up to the excitement of the sport. Our Easter fixture may be the first time they’ve been racing and we hope that once they’ve enjoyed a day at the races, they’ll want to come back, especially over our summer holiday period.”
In an additional offering for families, the Family Enclosure will be open for the first time this season. The Family Enclosure provides parents with an excellent view of the racecourse while the children are entertained with giant garden games and inflatables. With a bouncy castle, jousting and a big challenge assault course, the Family Enclosure will be open for all weekend and school holiday fixtures this season.
Those looking to enjoy a day of horseracing with friends, family or colleagues can take advantage of the racecourse’s group booking discounts, available when booked in advance. The racecourse’s group bookings discount is available for groups of 8 or more racegoers.
Tickets can be bought online until 17:00 the day before the fixture. Tickets are priced at £12 for the Course Enclosure and £18 for the Paddock Enclosure. There will be tickets available at the gate on the day.
The afternoon’s fixture will start at 13:15, with gates opening at 11:15. For more information on Newton Abbot Racecourse’s 2015 season, visit www.newtonabbotracing.com or call 01626 353235.
