Kickstarter countdown begins for Spacex

On Thursday 21 May Spacex will be launching a Kickstarter – an online fundraising campaign – to raise £10,000 towards two artist residencies and a series of public events. This is an opportunity to support us and acquire some art at the same time - win win!

This Kickstarter is supported by a large number of generous artists who want to see Spacex move into a new phase of it’s history. The artists have donated work so that if you pledge a donation, you can obtain art in return. A variety of items from the Spacex archive are also available to choose from, as ‘rewards’, for donating.

As you may know Spacex is at a pivotal, and exciting, point in its forty-year history. In response to funding reductions we have adapted the organisation to enable us to continue with a project-based programme. In place of being a gallery with a rolling programme of exhibitions, Spacex now produces projects in collaboration with a wide range of partners. We are continuing to bring artists and audiences together and will still be producing exhibitions in a range of venues as part of this. We have secured grant funding from ACE towards this year’s programme but this does not cover all costs. We need to find new sources of income, and support from the public, to continue this work.

We hope to raise £10,000 within 30 days. If we don’t reach this target by Friday 19 June no donations are taken and we receive no money…so please help us reach that target. Donations of any amount will be welcomed - if everyone on our mailing list gave just £5, we would reach our target!
