Come along to your local RPSCA Shelter and enjoy a fun day of stalls, games and a dog show on Sunday 28 June from 11am until 4pm – all raising funds for the Shelter!

Little Valley Animal Shelter is based just outside Exeter at Black Hat Lane, Bakers Hill, Exeter EX2 9TA (just past Pocombe Bridge) and looks after abandoned or mistreated animals from the local area – dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, rodents, birds and sometimes a few more unusual creatures!

The Shelter is not normally open to the public, so the charity’s annual Shelter Day is a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes at the Shelter and see where the animals are kept, ask the staff questions and look at the cats and small furries, such as rabbits and rodents, before they find their forever homes.

As well as the chance to see the Shelter, there will be lots of exciting things going on with stalls of bric-a-brac, plants, pet accessories etc as well as archery organised by Lacetown Archery of Honiton, face painting, BBQ, bar and homemade refreshments (with lots of cake!) to name but a few.

Other charities will be joining us on the day with stalls – they include Cats Protection, Greyhound Rescue West of England and The Brooke Animal Charity.

The main feature of the day will be a fun dog show – so pop along with your pooch and enter! There will be rosettes and prizes for the winners in such categories as ‘Dog that judges would most like to take home’, ‘Dog with the waggiest tail’, ‘Best rescue dog’ as well as others.

And don’t forget our summer Grand Draw! First prize is £250 in cash, plus there are some fantastic runner up prizes of a Kitchen Aid Food Processor, a Krups Coffee Maker and many others! Ticket will be available on the day as well as from Shelter Reception and in our charity shops and cost just 50p each.

Little Valley Animal Shelter is owned and run by the South, East and West Devon Branch of the RSPCA. The Shelter, founded in 1991, supports the work of local RSPCA inspectors by caring for and rehoming around 1000 of the neediest animals from the local area every year. The South, East and West Devon Branch are a separately registered branch of the RSPCA and responsible for raising funds locally.

Entry to Shelter Day is just £1 for adults and 50 pence for children. Under 5’s are free.
