As part of the National Trust's ‘50 things to do before you're 11 ¾’ campaign, two highly skilled and friendly instructors from The Great Big Tree Climbing Company will help kids of all ages have a summer adventure at Knightshayes.

Running from Thursday 20 to Saturday 22 August, between 10.30am and 4.30pm, hour-long climbing sessions will give participants the chance to enter a tree's canopy using ropes, knots and karabiners, whilst being securely attached in a harness at all times. The climbing sessions will be held in Knightshayes’ Formal and Woodland Garden, which is in full summer bloom.

Once at the top of the tree, climbers can see the amazing views over Knightshayes and beyond. As the only National Trust property to be hosting this event in the area, and with a maximum of seven at each session, this is a unique and intimate experience.

Rachael Hall, Learning and Engagement Officer for Knightshayes, said: ‘We wanted to get people outdoors and enjoying the amazing gardens at Knightshayes in a unique and exciting way. This is only the second time our visitors have had the chance to experience climbing our exotic trees in this part of our gardens. I imagine the view up high is quite fantastic, and the sense of achievement must be very exhilarating. I’m sure we will have some intrepid and brave climbers scrabbling up to the very top of the trees, with maybe a few grown-ups being brave enough to have a go too.’

Visitors can book sessions with The Great Big Tree Climbing Company at http://www.bigtreeclimbing.co.uk/event/tiverton-2/.The cost of the climbing sessions is £18.50 plus an additional booking fee (email info@bigtreeclimbing.co.uk for further information).
