Did you witness Torquay seafront crash?

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman and child were seriously injured following a road traffic collision in Torquay at the weekend.

The collision happened shortly before 1.20pm on Sunday 22 November 2015 near the junction of Torbay Road and Sea Way Lane.

A group of five pedestrians, two adults and three children, were walking along Torbay Road when a silver Daihatsu Sirion mounted the pavement and collided with a six-year-old girl and her 35-year-old mother.

The silver Daihatsu, heading in the Paignton direction, also collided with a Ford Focus that was parked on the road.

The woman suffered serious head and leg injuries, and is being treated at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. Her injuries are described as life-changing.

The six-year-old girl suffered serious leg injuries and is currently in a stable condition at Torbay Hospital. 

The driver the Daihatsu, a 53 year-old man from Brixham, was taken to Torbay Hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed for seven and a half hours while a specialist forensic investigation of the scene took place.

Officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to this incident to contact them.
