Following the success of last year’s event at the Royal Marines Commando Training Centre, Cartridges Business Hub provided a further workshop to The Royal Marines Charity to assist in their transition as they leave the Marines and look into other career options, for many this is setting up their own business using the skills learned whilst serving.

The Royal Marines Charity inspires business to support Royal Marines in need whilst they are serving, in transition to civilian life and thereafter aspires to:

  • Support any Royal Marine whose military career has ended prematurely due to injury, however the injury was incurred.
  • Support serving and former Royal Marines, their families and dependants who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress.
  • Assist serving and former Royal Marines to resettle into civilian life.

At the event were a number of the Cartridges Business Hub preferred suppliers including Cobalt Communication who did a presentation entitled "Uberfication. How to use technology in your business" which talked about simple and cost effective ways to start and run a business, ways to spot digital disruption in your chosen field to help differentiate you from competition, and the how, where and what of Computers and Comms;  Thompson Jenner Accountants talked about the implications of HMRC compliance, whether to be sole trader or limited company and what services can be outsourced.

Previous attendee Ray Lowrie of RowingTek, said, “Dana took the time to run through things at our pace to help us understand what we need to do and how to get there. Royal Marine, Jamie Bassett of Corps Military Fitness had said of last year’s event “the advice provided was invaluable, your experts were very knowledgeable and full of advice, it was a day well spent”.

Dana Mulligan Managing Director of Cartridges Business Hub described a bit about what how the Cartridges Business Hub works: “The business hub is ideal for small and medium sized enterprises in need of advice. We can help whether you are starting up or making adjustments to an existing business. In addition, we have a particular interest in supporting the not for profit sector. We are the organisation for other independent businesses who are all local providers and experts in their field. Our preferred business suppliers all signed an agreement requiring them to deliver the type of high quality services which match our own high standards. By making sure the suppliers meet Cartridges Business Hub standards, we make sure the businesses we work with get the best quality service”.

Director Michael Green said: “We want to support businesses to grow. One of the ways we help businesses is by taking the stress out of finding the right information by providing a single point of contact, which makes it easy for you to access all the services that the Cartridges Business Hub provides. The Business Hub will enable access to all types of advice, helping you to grow and develop your own business. Some of the areas covered include: legal, accountancy, employment, website design, marketing, business trading terms and conditions, funding, insurance, communications and IT.

If required Cartridges Business Hub will provide on-going support to their business as it grows and changes with the help of our full range of business experts.”
