Othello
Friday, 7.30pm, Exeter Phoenix
Neglected for promotion in favour of the younger and less experienced Cassio, Iago seeks revenge. Follow Iago as he masterminds a desperate plot to get Cassio demoted, and turn Othello against her bisexual wife Desdemona. Recasting Othello as a female CEO, this production engages with topical themes of homosexuality, bisexuality and sexual prejudice. Tickets £11 (£9).  http://www.exeterphoenix.org.uk

Wake Up & Deirdrealize

Deirdre Me is on a mission to show the world how awesome it is, one person at a time, starting with you. Hailing all the way from Texas-Tennessee, Deirdre is more magnanimous than Gandhi, she is sexier than chocolate and hotter than the sun. She comes armed with a full artillery of brash offensive charm, outlandish opinions and ridiculous ideas and she is always ready to open fire in the pursuit of your awesomeness. The Mousetrap

The Mousetrap is famous around the world for being the longest running show of any kind in the history of theatre, with over 26,000 performances in London. This record-breaking 60th anniversary production is back by popular demand in 2016 starring Louise Jameson (Doctor Who, EastEnders, Doc Martin) as Mrs Boyle. BSO: Classical Extravaganza 2016

Chagstock Festival 2016

Devon’s much-loved, family friendly, not-for-profit event will feature the biggest and most diverse line up in its 10-year history.The theme for the wildly popular fancy dress day on Saturday will be Legends. Exmouth Town Band

Songs On the Breeze: Go along for an afternoon in the sun (hopefully) with Exmouth Town Band and the Devon Wind Youth Orchestra.
Music starts from 2pm. Although there is plenty of seating provided, these outdoor concerts do get rather busy, so maybe bring a camping chair or two with you or a picnic blanket. Romans under your feet!

Singha Premiership Rugby 7s
Saturday, 3.15pm, Sandy Park, Exeter
The Singha Premiership Rugby 7s Series makes its debut at Sandy Park, with the venue hosting Group B. The Group features the Exeter Chiefs, Bristol Rugby and Bath Rugby, and last year’s finalists Wasps. Kick off for the first game will be 3pm, with six games of Rugby 7s scheduled during the afternoon. The Bear Trail - Opening Day
Saturday, 10am, Westcott, Cullompton
An innovative and challenging outdoor adventure trail set over a 10 acre site in Wescott, near Cullompton. The Bear Trail features over 16 separate obstacles where children (and adults!) can run, jump and climb their way across zig-zag bridges, high nets and bear-infested mud pits. The course incorporates physical activity, teamwork and creative thinking, giving cubs and grizzly bears alike the chance to push their boundaries and test their limits. Flower Power: Botanical illustrations from India
RAMM, Queen Street, Exeter
An exhibition of beautiful early 19th-century illustrations of Indian flora exploring the plants’ usage in traditional Ayurvedic and modern medicine. Part of Naturally Inspired: RAMM’s season of botanicals, gardens and landscapes. The exhibition runs until 11 September. http://www.rammuseum.org.uk

Fashion to Dye For
Killerton House, Broadclyst, Exeter
Killerton's latest exhibition 'Fashion to dye for', will be opening its doors to invite people into the wardrobe to discover how colours, dyes and design shaped fashion history. From a 50's red silk gown (said to have belonged to Princess Margaret), to a 70's blue denim jacket and flares and a young boys red dress - colour can reveal much about the wearer. The collection brings to life how colour can reveal much about the wearer and also looks into the origins, status and function of colour in fashion. THG Open 2016
Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Dowell Street, Honiton
The THG Open celebrates the rich and varied talent of artists living in the South West. It is a perfect opportunity to view and purchase work by some of the best established and emerging artists from across the region. It also gives visitors the opportunity to vote for their favourite work in the exhibition to win the Audience Prize this year.
