Trio of new starters for Exeter family law firm
The Family Law Company has welcomed three additional team members to its Exeter offices.
Solicitor Thomas Glover will be lending his expertise to our Children Team, and divorce and unmarried couples cases alongside team leader, Gemma Sparks. Thomas studied Law at Liverpool University, moving back to Devon during Covid to work locally. He started in criminal law and finished his training contract with another firm where he spent a year in the family department where he discovered a genuine interest in being able to make a difference to people’s lives. Thomas is unusual in that he has also studied for the Bar and hopes to become dual qualified so he can practice not just as a Solicitor but also a Barrister for The Family Law Company.
Courtney James has joined the Child Abduction team as a Paralegal. Originally from Cornwall, Courtney began her journey into law in residential conveyancing. However, she was really keen to move into family law and in particular international work and was delighted when an opportunity arose at The Family Law Company. Courtney will be working closely with Grace Bradley, who specialises in complex international cases involving abduction and domestic abuse. Alongside her full-time role, Courtney is studying law with the Open University.
Effie Waring, from Exeter, is at the start of her legal career. She studied English Literature at The University of Sussex before taking a law conversion course at the University of Law in London. After a stint doing audio transcription for the Crown Prosecution Service at Pynes Hill Effie, who is keen to help those going through a difficult time, joined The Family Law Company as a Legal Secretary in the Divorce & Finance team which is headed up by Joint-MD Rachel Buckley.
Rachel said: “We’re excited to have Thomas, Courtney and Effie on board; these are three excellent appointments. They’re at different stages in their careers but all bring energy and positivity to our Exeter teams – and they’re already living our core values which include standing up for the vulnerable. I know all will make valuable contributions to our specialist work as family lawyers.”
