On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September, from 11am to 5pm, Castle Drogo will be holding an Edwardian country fair. There will lots of fun for all the family including traditional games such as coconut shy and skittles, the Dartmoor ranger team will be demonstrating time-honoured rural skills such as hurdle making and, of course, no fair would be complete without swing boats and a Punch and Judy show. On Saturday, there will be performances from the Great Western Morris dancers and music from Hatherleigh silver band. On Sunday there will be more local entertainment with dancing from the...
Visitors to Castle Drogo will get the opportunity to learn more about the ongoing building work to make building water tight on 27 May.
In 2013 one of the largest projects ever undertaken by the National Trust began at Castle Drogo.
The castle has suffered major structural problems ever since completion which has resulted in serious leaks and water penetration throughout the building. If the decision to undertake extensive conservation had not been taken, the castle would eventually have become inaccessible and this national treasure would have been lost forever. The...
The team of staff and volunteers at Castle Drogo are pleased to re-open to the public the memorial room dedicated to Adrian Drewe, Julius and Francis Drewe’s eldest son and heir who was killed during the First World War.

The Castle Drogo youth panel loved Fred Deakin's interactive game show/party idea and, together with staff, worked up a proposal to turn the castle and grounds into a celebration of traditional games...

Meanwhile Castle Drogo stands deserted and incomplete as the stone masons down their tools and head for the front line....

The big news is that it is going to stay open for the entire project and more volunteers than ever are needed to make this happen. If you are interested in...
