Amazing charity support from Wynstream wonders

Big hearted children at an Exeter primary school have raised nearly £2,000 for charity by taking part in a fun run.

Pupils at Wynstream School on Burnthouse Lane chose to support FORCE Cancer Charity, which has its headquarters just a 10-minute walk away.

Nearly every one of their 350 pupils, from reception class to Year 6, got involved.

They walked, jogged and ran laps of the school playing field for up to 40 minutes.

Happy Days Exeter hosted a 30th Birthday Party on Saturday 4th September to raise essential funds for a local children’s hospice while also celebrating 30 years of Happy Days.

It was “hi-ho hi-ho” all the way as a collection of ‘elves’ cycled, jogged and walked to work at Otter Garden Centres in Ottery St Mary in memory of their colleague Rob Gillingham who passed away from a brain tumour earlier this year.

They were fundraising for Brain Tumour Support, a charity that helps those affected by any type of brain tumour, not just patients, but also their families, friends and carers.

Rusty Pig in Ottery St Mary has teamed up with Hospiscare for a festive draw with an amazing top prize – which could turn into two!

The restaurant is supporting the charity after Covid-19 drastically affected fundraising events since March. Robin Rea of Rusty Pig, whose family have previously received support from Hospiscare, said:

An ongoing fundraising initiative by Nourish Zero Waste has accumulated £1,600 for Hospiscare after customers were encouraged to donate just a few pence in each transaction.

The money will fund 16 visits to a patient in their own home by one of the charity’s clinical nurse specialists enabling patients to stay at home with their loved ones.

Zero waste provisions business Nourish which has shops in Topsham and Magdalen Road has been running a voluntary charity ‘round up’ since opening in March 2018.

Summer fizz fundraiser success

The Family Law Company invited local businesses along to its Balliol office in Southernhay for fun, fizz and sweet treats to raise funds for local domestic abuse charities.

Along with prosecco and cream teas provided for attendees, the organisers held a raffle with prizes including bottles of wine, chocolates and flowers.

The event was a great success, with an impressive turn out. On the day, funds of just under £160 were raised, and this number is still increasing.

In recognition of Armed Forces Week, the team at The Family Law Company invited members of the Army Outreach Team South West to join them for a ‘Big Brew Up’ to help raise money for the Armed Forces charity, SSAFA.

Staff at Mercedes-Benz of Exeter joined the fight against heart disease by holding a Cake Sale for their customers on Valentine’s day. The local community came out in force to show their support of the nation’s heart charity with the team raising over £120 throughout the day.

Otter Garden Centres in Ottery St Mary has announced the total raised for its charity of the year 2017, Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

The East Devon branch of the family-run garden centre ran various fundraising activities across the year to achieve an impressive total of over £7,500.

£700 came from donations to the annual Memory Tree, where customers buy a red or gold ribbon to attach to a Christmas tree in memory of loved ones. £1,000 was raised from parking donations for Ottery St Mary’s Tar Barrels event, with a matching amount donated to the Tar Barrels Carnival Committee...

A skittles challenge organised by The Family Law Company in Exeter raised over £800 for FORCE Cancer Charity.
