Prominent City Trustee Steps Down

Lewis Jones has announced his resignation from the Exeter City FC Trust Board, due to continuing health difficulties and increased demands on his time.

Exeter “born and bred” and a lifetime supporter of the Club, Lewis joined the Trust Board in 2009. He took a leading role in developing the current strategic plan and has assisted in numerous projects during his four years on the Board.

Exeter City's Trust Seeking Deputy Finance Officer

Nigel Banks, the Trust Finance Officer, has decided to take a back seat after 10 years and intends to step down at the conclusion of this year’s AGM. With this in mind the Trust are looking to recruit a Deputy Finance Officer as soon as possible to work with Nigel over the next 6 months with a view to ensuring a smooth handover at the end of that period.

Comic Relief spirit sweeps through Exeter

Comic Relief marked its 25th year of helping children in Africa and the UK yesterday. Businesses, clubs and schools all over Exeter got involved by doing ‘something funny for money’ in a bid to make this year’s Red Nose Day the best fundraiser yet.

Award-winning landlord saves village pub from closure

Residents from the Mid-Devon village of Clyst Hydon near Cullompton, are celebrating the news that their cherished local pub, the Five Bells Inn , has been saved from closure following a month of strong campaigning.

Paul Parnell, owner and landlord of the hugely successful Jack in the Green pub and restaurant at Rockbeare has acquired the lease to run the Five Bells Inn through an arrangement with Exeter-based property consultants Grenadier Estates . It will reopen in the summer following an extensive refurbishment.

Successful Community Shop Opening

Villagers came out in numbers to celebrate the official opening of the new permanent Ide Community Shop and Post Office.

Trevor Gardner (Chairman) said in his opening speech "Ide is an amazing village. The way in which everyone has pulled together has been brilliant, whether raising money, donating time or providing skills and expertise to fit out and decorate the shop."

Twelve months ago, the villagers of Ide, near Exeter, embarked on the seemingly impossible task of relocating their community shop.

The original shop opened in 2009 on a temporary site within a Portakabin in the village car park. Understandably, the council wanted the car parking spaces back. Eventually, after nearly two years, suitable premises were identified and £175,000 was raised, enabling the premises to be purchased and transformed from an old warehouse into a stylish and spacious new shop and post office.

Exeter Pride is back... and it's set to be bigger than ever

The fifth Exeter Pride, a celebration of Exeter 's LGBT communities, will take place on and around Saturday, 23rd March.

Last year more than 1,500 took part in the Pride Parade down Exeter High Street and more than 2,000 people attended events held at Exeter Phoenix.

This year it is back and will be bigger, better and more colourful.

Community Trust asks youngsters, "What's your goal?"

Exeter City FC Community Trust is launching a programme of in-school workshops to help local youngsters identify their career goals.

This is part of a national programme called ‘What’s Your Goal?’ run by the Football League sponsor, npower, to give students across the country the chance to experience working life in the football industry.
