Three former offenders have helped to brighten up a previously dull car park at a community hub in Exeter.
The group, who are all being supported by Dorset, Devon and Cornwall Community Rehabilitation Company (DDC CRC) as part of their sentences, have taken part in a street art course as they look to pick up new skills. When a community project in Exeter asked for people's views and ideas for a new building they didn’t quite expect the overwhelming number of volunteers who came forward to help. People behind plans to create a Community Hub in Pinhoe received 75 offers of help after sending out a survey asking for suggestions on what should be in the building and where it should be located. “With all sorts of skills and new ideas it's very exciting to see this level of support and makes the new Community Hub even more within reach,” said Cllr Duncan Wood, who has backed the initiative right from start....
A total of 28 members of the Axe Valley Community Choir joined former bass singer 92-year-old Ron Styles, now a resident at The Seaton Care Home, for a special reunion performance. The 85-strong Axe Valley Community Choir, was formed in 2009 to bring people of all ages and abilities to enjoy singing together, as well as participating in fundraising events within the community. Ron had been a popular member of the choir before setting up residence in the care home in February and has been sorely missed.

RGB Building Supplies has reopened its Well Built Community Fund and is calling out to schools, charities and community groups to tell it about projects that have an autumnal theme for the chance to receive £1,000 worth of building materials.
This will be the builders’ merchants’ 20th Community Fund giveaway and whatever the reason for the nomination, RGB would like to hear about it. Maybe a charity needs to make repairs to ensure a building is safe for winter, or perhaps an amateur dramatic group needs help with staging for an autumn performance.
Around 500 people visited the Honiton Community Festival where many local community groups held stalls and attractions.
A number of demonstrations were held throughout the day at the event which was held at Allhallows Playing Field.
These included displays by SYTL Karate, which included a very useful Stranger Danger message, the SPS Kickboxing group who showed off their skills, the lively Honiton Twirlstars who put on a great performance and musicians from the Honiton Youth Orchestra provided some great music for the event.
