Michelmores' female partnership level exceeds 40% with the promotion of four new partners

UK law firm Michelmores has announced its latest round of promotions which includes four of its female Senior Associates to Partner level. The promotions bring the Firm's partnership to 72 and increase its proportion of female partners to over 40%.

Commenting on this year's promotions, Tim Richards, Managing Partner said:

"Congratulations to our new Partners for this milestone achievement in their legal careers. In 2018 we set ourselves a target for our partnership to be at least 30% female, and I am delighted to say that we are now far beyond that, at over 40%....

New Exeter builders merchant spreads the joy

A leading builders merchant has marked the opening of a new branch in Exeter by supporting a south west charity and hosting a special darts event.

As part of its ongoing expansion around the UK, Selco Builders Warehouse has cut the ribbon on a new branch on Filmer Way in Marsh Barton, its 73rd in the UK.

To mark the opening, Selco made a £1,000 donation to Jay’s Aim – a south west charity which provides support to community groups looking to purchase defibrillators - as well as pledging a further £2,000 to its nominated charity Cancer Research UK.

Public Health Devon warn of Lyme disease this tick season

Wetter weather earlier in the year followed by warmer, sunnier spells this month in Devon may make pets and people more prone to ticks when walking in woodlands or long vegetation, Public Health Devon warn .

“Ticks thrive in warmer weather and in lush vegetation,” says Steve Brown, Director of Public Health Devon. “And with warmer weather and people taking to the outdoors for recreation, woodlands and overgrown paths are likely to have ticks living among them.”

There are approximately 1,500 cases of Lyme disease, commonly spread by ticks, in England and Wales each year...

More foster carers who can look after siblings needed

More children in care face growing up without their brothers or sisters unless more foster carers who are able to care for siblings can be found.

There is a national shortage of foster carers who are able to look after more than one child.

Nationally there could be as many as 2,000 children who are growing up in foster care without the support of a brother or sister.

There are currently four sibling groups in the care of Fostering Devon looking for foster home where they can live together.
