England’s Seafood FEAST is set to return to the English Riviera in beautiful south Devon this autumn, from 29 September to 15 October. The two-week celebration of world-renowned local seafood will see the towns of Brixham, Paignton and Torquay join forces to host a seafood feast like no other, giving visitors the chance to join the locals and experience some of the best seafood in the world, right where it’s landed. Digital Leadership programme offers training to small businesses

A new training programme has been launched to help small businesses in the region to improve their digital capabilities.

Digital Leadership for SMEs (small and medium enterprises) is providing training for senior leaders of small and medium enterprises in Devon, Plymouth, Somerset, and Torbay. 150 training places are available, providing up to 32 hours of free tutor training.

Third-dose boosters offer long-term protection from COVID-19, study run in Exeter finds

Third dose COVID-19 booster vaccines offer lasting protection after several months, according to the latest results of a nationwide trial.

The NIHR-supported COV-BOOST study, run across England and Wales at sites including Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, part of Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (RDUH), has provided data to underpin the UK’s booster programmes since 2021.

Care home takes resident on first trip outside in 10 years

OCTOGENARIAN Edward Perryman visited Exmouth beach and ate an ice cream on his first trip outside in ten years.

Edward, a resident at The Old Rectory care home in Exeter, was transported along Exmouth beach in a specially adapted beach wheelchair. He watched the waves crashing onto the shore, before eating an ice cream on the seafront.

The momentous moment was thanks to The Beach Wheelchair Project and the perseverance of Southern Healthcare staff, who helped empower Edward to leave the care home where he lives.

Police investigate spate of aggravated burglaries in Exeter

Police are currently investigating two incidents of aggravated burglary which happened in the St Thomas area of Exeter.

The first incident took place at the Dawn ‘til Dark Premier Store, on Princes Street East, at around 9pm on Monday 10 April. A man, dressed in grey hoody, black trousers with a concealed face, entered the store and demanded money from the till.
