Michelmores bolsters growing Corporate team with partner hire

UK law firm Michelmores has appointed Cathy Bryant as a Partner in the Bristol office of its growing national Corporate Team.

Cathy, who takes on the role of Head of Corporate Tax, joins from Blake Morgan LLP and brings extensive experience in the tax aspects of complex corporate transactions. Cathy joins Senior Associate Anthony Reeves in the Corporate Tax team, building on the Firm’s strong expertise in corporate deal tax and share incentive schemes.

Paul Colsell, a local artist, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to create a mural in the heart of Exeter. Known as the Exeter Kindness Mural it will feature the work of celebrated artist and author, Charley Mackesy. A key objective of the project is to celebrate kindness in the city. The mural is to be painted this Summer on the Crossline building in Heavitree Road, clearly visible from St Sidwell's Point Leisure Centre. Devon-based mental health charity, Step One, has announced the launch of its spring programme of free mental health and wellbeing courses, workshops and peer support groups. Devon partnership seeks to help more people with dementia

Wales & West Utilities has launched a partnership with Exeter Community Energy (ECOE) to help people with dementia access appropriate support and advice in relation to their energy and utility bills.

The partnership will target people living with dementia across the wider Devon area as part of the organisation’s Healthy Homes for Wellbeing initiative, which provides free energy and money saving advice.

There are just two weeks left to apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate, for voters that do not have another accepted form of photo ID they can use in polling stations this May. The Electoral Commission is calling on anyone that needs the free ID to apply now, before the deadline of 5pm on Tuesday 25 April.

Over 55,000 people have already applied for a Voter Authority Certificate ahead of the May elections, where photo ID will be required for the first time at polling stations in England.

Police are investigating a sexual assault that took place in Exeter over the weekend.

Officers are undertaking searches in the Ludwell Valley Park area of Exeter following a report of a sexual assault having taken place on the afternoon of Sunday 9 April.

The Positive Birth Company has announced an ambitious fundraising event for Tommy’s baby charity later this month which will see the team complete a 24 hour disco bike-a-thon relay at their HQ near Totnes.

Live streaming the entire event on their YouTube channel to more than 80,000 people, the company will be taking it in turns to complete shifts on a Peloton bike situated in their headquarters at Berry Pomeroy, while simultaneously having a disco to keep morale up throughout the 24 hour stint.

Taylor Wimpey has proudly assisted Cranbrook Running Club with its support towards Force Cancer Charity. The running club organised a charity raffle event in Cranbrook, which Taylor Wimpey proudly supported with a £250 donation, allowing the club to purchase further items to raise more funds to then hand over to the charity.
