Hundreds of thousands of trees will be planted in communities across England after two major funding schemes reopened for applications today.

Over £14m will be allocated to successful applicants across both funds, which will support tree planting efforts and contribute to Government commitments to treble tree-planting rates across England by the end of this Parliament, planting 30,000 hectares of trees across the UK per year to meet net zero ambitions.

One of the first Devon cancer patients to be recruited onto a ground-breaking trial in the region has spoken of his relief at receiving cutting-edge treatment following his diagnosis.

Last week officers, staff and volunteers across Devon & Cornwall took part in the successful national Neighbourhood Policing Week of action (23 Jan for seven days).

As the February half term draws closer, families are being reminded that they can save up to £2,000 a year on childcare costs with Tax-Free Childcare.  

More than 37,600 families in the South West used the scheme in September 2022 and benefitted from the government paying towards childcare costs.
