Hospiscare is asking ‘going green’ at the upcoming Twilight Walk in Exmouth, which takes place on Saturday, 7 July. The charity is also taking measures to keep environmental impact at the event as low as possible – for example, no ready-filled water bottles will be available.
Along with the Twilight Walk’s usual 5-mile and 10-mile routes there will be a 5k fun run – and all walkers and runners are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles to cut down on single-use plastic bottles. Children’s Hospice South West is celebrating after being certified “plastic free” for its events in Devon.
The charity has been working with Plastic Free North Devon to reduce the environmental impact of its fundraising events, which attract support across the whole county. Events including the recent Rainbow Run in Exeter, the forthcoming Ride for Precious Lives cycle challenge, the Canonteign Abseil and September’s foam-filled Bubble Rush 5km run at Coxleigh Barton have all received the Plastic Free North Devon seal of approval for a range of eco-friendly measures.

Dartmoor artist Shirley Kirkcaldy is celebrating after her work has been selected to be represented by a new Devon gallery.
The Tidal Gallery, which opens at Victoria Place, The Promenade, Kingsbridge, on July 22 will be exhibiting eight of Shirley’s latest landscapes and seascapes.
