Fire Service called to caravan fire in Exeter

Two fire appliances from Danes Castle and Middlemoor were called to Frog Street in Exeter in the early hours of this morning following reports of a caravan on fire.

Crews arrived and found the caravan well alight in a private car park. One hose reel jet and one compressed air foam jet were used to extinguish the fire by two breathing apparatus wearers. A thermal imaging camera was used to check adjacent properties for any fire spread and police were informed of the incident.

Fire crews rescue two trapped after A38 road collision

The A38 at Haldon Hill in Kennford, which was partially blocked with queueing traffic at Splatford Split because of an earlier accident has now cleared.

The Fire Service reported receiving calls requesting its attendance for a Road Traffic Collision in the above area. Two Fire appliances from Danes castle and One Fire appliance from Middlemoor attended the incident.

On arrival, Fire crews confirmed two vehicles were involved in the collision with two persons trapped within the vehicles.

Fire guts car at Magdalen Street car park

The Fire Service was called to a report of a car on fire at the Magdalen Street car park at the junction of Western Way and South Steet in Exeter city centre.

A fire engine from Danes Castle was sent to the incident, where crews extinguished the ca using foam and two sets of breathing apparatus. The car was severely damaged by fire and a further six vehicles were also damaged but nobody was hurt in the incident.

Firefighters answer United Nations call for assistance

Firefighters from Devon and Somerset are to travel to Nepal this week to provide training to the country’s fire service, at the request of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The Nepal Fire Service is ill-equipped, with firefighters often attending severe incidents without any protective clothing or adequate equipment, including breathing apparatus. There are very few fire appliances and access to water through the hydrant system is limited.
