Cheryl thrilled to be back for Classics 2024

It will be a night of mixed emotions for celebrated soprano Cheryl Enever when she steps on to the stage for one of Exeter’s most popular concerts this autumn.

Cheryl is the soloist at Classics Galore! on Saturday November 9 at the University of Exeter Great Hall.

The concert is in aid of Exeter-based FORCE Cancer Charity, a cause close to Cheryl’s heart as she explains.

Celebrating 20 years of the FORCE Centre

FORCE Support Centre open day a huge success

Hundreds of people turned out to celebrate 20 years of FORCE Cancer Charity’s Support and Information Centre.

The Centre, in the grounds of the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, was a hive of activity all day as the charity welcomed patients, supporters, friends and healthcare professionals to catch up or learn about all the services FORCE offers to anyone locally affected by cancer, free of charge.

There were talks from the FORCE physiotherapy team, information nurses and counsellors as well as a moving endorsement from a patient who is part of the charity’s pioneering...

Twenty years of the FORCE Cancer Charity Centre

This autumn marks a significant milestone in the history of FORCE Cancer Charity.

The FORCE Support and Information Centre has been welcoming local people affected by cancer for 20 years.

It opened its door for the first time on September 20, 2004, followed by the official opening in February 2005 when the entire building was tied in a red ribbon and everyone who helped create the Centre was invited to take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony.

FORCE Cancer Charity has appointed Kate Few-Singh as its new chief executive.

She will take over from Meriel Fishwick, who leaves at the end of October after 34 years with the Exeter-based charity, which supports local people affected by cancer.

Mrs Few-Singh has more than 20 years’ experience working in the healthcare charity sector, for both national and local charities including Sue Ryder and Hospiscare.

Founder Marc finally completes 25th Nello ride

The man who founded one of the biggest charity rides in the region has completed this year’s event seven weeks after everyone else!

Topsham-based wine, food and travel writer Marc Millon set up The Nello in 2000 to raise money for FORCE Cancer Charity in memory of his great friend Nello Ghezzo.

He was all set for the special 25th ride in June this year when COVID struck and for the first time, he was forced to sit it out.

FORCE runners gather ahead of the 2024 Great West Run

FORCE raises record total from Great West Run

FORCE Cancer Charity is on course to raise nearly £70,000 from this year’s Bishop Fleming Great West Run.

Money is still coming in from sponsorship but FORCE is confident of smashing an original target of £60,000.

The charity, which offers free support and advice to anyone locally affected by cancer, had a record number of more than 300 sign-ups for the 2024 half marathon around the streets of Exeter.

Their partnership with the event has proved so successful that FORCE has now been announced as official charity partner for the next three years.
