It’s free for kids and one of the best days out in the Easter holidays on March 31.

Exeter Racecourse’s annual family day, sponsored by Finlake Holiday Park, is a firmly established tradition with a host of activities to enjoy, and with horse racing firmly at its heart.

Take a peek behind the scenes with former jockey Ollie McPhail who now works for the British Horse Racing Standards and Education Trust. He’ll lead a tour of the racecourse and there will be a chance to get close to the steeple chase fences, learn about what happens in the weighing room and ask jockeys...

Exeter Racecourse’s £100,000 added card on Sunday (Feb 8) has been rewarded with top class entries across seven races, with the first race off at 1.25pm, including the feature listed novices’ hurdle.

Six go to post with the Philip Hobbs-trained War Sound, who looked so impressive on his course debut on New Year’s Day when he easily saw off his ten opponents to record a 12 lengths success, likely to start favourite.

Paul Nicholls, who saddled last year’s winner Vibrato Valtat, runs Emerging Talent, a heavy faller last time out at Kempton in the grade two Sky Bet Supreme...

Super Sunday at Exeter Racecourse

All roads lead to Haldon Hill on February 8 when Exeter Racecourse stages its prestigious Super Sunday race fixture.

Racegoers can pre-book two Grandstand and Paddock tickets for just £15, and with children aged 17 and under racing free, the meeting offers a terrific opportunity to enjoy a superb day of sporting action on Haldon Hill.

With prize money is in excess of £100,000 the meeting is widely regarded as one of the best Sundays in jump racing. The card includes a Pertemps qualifier, a listed novices’ hurdle and a three mile graduation chase, each worth £20,000....

New Year’s Day racing at Exeter Racecourse

Exeter Racecourse looks set to share in jump racing’s success story with pre-sales for its traditional New Year’s Day meeting ahead of its last January 1 fixture in 2012.

Both Premier and Grandstand & Paddock tickets have seen strong pre-sales. There has also been a recent swathe of abandonments due to frosty conditions, and with temperatures set to rise in time for Thursday’s fixture the racecourse is expecting an exceptional turnout.

A world first and Tom Parker reigns supreme

A crowd of more than 3,000 turned out at Exeter Racecourse yesterday to watch ponies from Dartmoor and Clydesdale horses stretch their limbs in their two furlong races before seven jump races gave racegoers an afternoon to remember.

Six hill ponies went to post and it was a tiny pure bred registered Dartmoor who crossed the line in front with his owner Rachael Watson on board.

“My plan was to stay close to Frolic in the race and keep something in the tank for the finish,” said 20-year-old Rachael who farms with her parents near Poundsgate.

Feathers will be flying and tiny hooves will be dashing on Devon Day at Exeter Racecourse on Sunday, November 23 with the racing Clydesdales making a return and the racecourse staging the first ever race for ponies from Dartmoor.

The pint-sized ponies will come under starters’ orders at 12pm and their wee little hooves will come tearing down the track as they demonstrate their versatility as tough, hardy and fast children’s ponies.
