Seven charged with attempted murder in Exeter

Police have charged seven men with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing in Exeter.

A police investigation was launched after reports of a stabbing at a property in the area of Lower Summerlands and Clifton Road, Exeter on Wednesday 6 April.

The following men have all been charged with attempted murder:

William Toohey aged 19 from Liverpool

Matthew Henney aged 20 from Liverpool

Liam O’Brian aged 21from Liverpool

Callum Cheetham aged 21 from Liverpool

Bart Wrighton aged 21from Castle Cary, Somerset

Drew Morgan aged 27...

Jester George is all smiles again today after bookie Betfred came to the rescue to pay for his 11,000–mile round trip to see his heroes Exeter City in their biggest match for a decade.

6,000 Exeter fans head to Anfield

More than 6,000 Exeter City fans will be making the 250 mile journey to Liverpool today as the sides battle for an Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round place at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp has said that he will field a similar side to that which faced the Grecians at St James Park eleven days ago. This will be the first time City have visited Anfield since 1981.

The match will be shown live on BT Sport; City were previously on the channel in the First Round of this season's competition, when they won at Didcot Town.

Liverpool v Exeter: FA Cup replay date confirmed

Exeter City’s Emirates FA Cup third round replay against Liverpool at Anfield has been confirmed for next Wednesday, 20 January.

The match, which kicks off at 8pm, will be screened live on BT Sport, with the build-up starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available now online , and in-person from Thursday morning.

FA Cup 4th Round: Exeter City or Liverpool drawn home to West Ham

Exeter City or Liverpool have been drawn at home against West Ham United in the Fourth Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The two sides will meet in an Anfield replay next week, with the winner going on to host the Hammers.

The Fourth Round proper will take place across the weekend of Friday 29 January to Monday 1 February 2016, with winning clubs receiving £90,000 from The FA’s prize fund.

Six-figure payday for Exeter City

Exeter City’s replay at Anfield means the club is set for a cash windfall, estimated to be worth up to £700,000.

That is the equivalent to a year’s wage bill. A win would have secured about a month’s worth.

The Grecians put in a gritty performance against Liverpool’s Kindergarten Klopps – a reference to the inexperienced team the Premier League-side manager fielded.

They earned a 2-2 draw, and the praise of the often-cynical London press.

EXETER CITY are heading to Anfield after holding Premier League Liverpool to a thrilling 2-2 draw at St James Park.

David Noble and Christian Ribeiro returned to the starting line-up for Exeter City to take on Liverpool in the most eagerly-anticipated match of the season. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp named a very youthful eleven, but did have Belgian international Christian Benteke up front as captain.

Devon and Cornwall Police will continue to work closely in partnership, supporting Exeter City Football club when they host Liverpool FC in the FA Cup this Friday evening, 8 January.

Police will be there to support the staff at the club in ensuring this is an enjoyable family event, providing support to the public wherever needed.

The club are advising fans to arrive early, with gates opening at 6.30pm.

With a sell out crowd all away coaches will be met and escorted by Police.

AS EXPECTED, tickets for the Grecians' Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie with Liverpool are now close to selling out.

A smattering of tickets, both seated and Big Bank, remain, and will continue to be sold to Season Ticket Holders, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Community Members until they are sold out.

Sales continue on a first-come, first-served basis at one per person.

For those looking to collect pre-purchased tickets on the day, please head to the booths at the relevant points. Please arrive early to avoid the queues, and hence avoid missing any of the action....
