Detectives have launched a murder enquiry following the suspicious death of a 51-year-old man in Newton Abbot.
Adrian Munday [pictured] was found deceased at a property, at 8 Wain Lane around 11am on Tuesday 6 October.
The investigation found that there had been a fire at the address which was extinguished before police arrived.
The death was being treated as unexplained, but a further forensic examination has now determined that Mr Munday had sustained serious injuries which were not related to the fire.

A three-month-old baby was rescued from a locked garage in Newton Abbot today.
Firefighters from Newton Abbot were sent to the garage in Jetty Marsh Road just after 11am, following a call reporting a car with a baby inside, which had been accidently locked in a garage.
Crews rescued the baby girl by gaining access to the garage via a ground floor window and used small tools to gain entry to the vehicle.

The pedestrian who died following a hit and run incident on the A380 in Newton Abbot on Sunday 26 July has been identified.
The victim has been named as Gareth Robert Toms, a 30-year-old from Paignton, who was also known as Frank Hunter.
Police were called at around 1.30am following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian on the A380 Torquay Road near the junction with Aller Brake Road.
Prior to the incident, police had received reports of a man walking in the road, from the direction of Penn Inn roundabout.
