East Devon residents call on Devon CPRE to help them fend off solar on farmland

Villagers of Marsh Green in East Devon have made an urgent appeal to the Devon branch of the countryside charity CPRE to help them fight an alarming planning application for a solar farm that they fear would destroy hundreds of acres of productive land and increase the risk of their homes flooding.

Rockbeare School Choir have made it through to the 8 finalists in the Radio Devon Star for Christmas competition. The winner of the competition has the opportunity to perform at a Carol Concert at Exeter Cathedral on 18th December which will be broadcast on Radio Devon on Christmas morning.

SWH proud to support Devon Air Ambulance Trust

SWH were proud to present representatives from the Devon Air Ambulance Trust with a cheque for £502 last Thursday.

SWH, a multi-disciplinary contractor providing civil engineering, highways maintenance and construction services, has proudly supported the DAAT since 2008, having raised nearly £3,000 for the cause during that time. In 2011 staff voted DAAT to be SWH’s charity of choice which it has remained since.

Car crashes into petrol pumps

Emergency crews were called to a petrol station in Rockbeare near Exeter today after a car crashed in to two pumps.

The incident happened at just past midnight. No one was trapped and one casualty was transported to hospital by ambulance.

A fire appliance from Middlemoor attended and used a foam jet as a precautionary measure and made the vehicle safe.

At 2.41am, Police recontacted the Fire Service to reattend the incident as more fuel had spilt as the pumps were being removed by contractors for repair. One fire appliance from Danes Castle Exeter attended.

Passed peacefully away on 15 October aged 83 years. Retired auxiliary nurse at The RD&E Hospital.
